Re: Seeking parentage of Dirk Wesseling of 18th century Enschede

Dwingeloo?

Re: Seeking parentage of Dirk Wesseling of 18th century Enschede
Assuming I have correctly read this thread, from the parish register of Gehrde, Preußen, Hannover, Germany, I found this possibility for Jurriaan Wesseling, baptized on 13 May 1714, son of Evert Wesling and Anna Statmann:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=220979
Since this is my first pass through this particular register, I am hesitant to say this is "our guy." But at a minimum, Wesselings were in this community.
One other sibling follows this Jurgen Wesseling:
Catharine Elsabein, baptized 4 Adv. (Advent?) 1715
My apologies for my delayed reply of thanks. I have been battling a stomach bug and sinus infection.

Re: Seeking parentage of Dirk Wesseling of 18th century Enschede
It should be Gehrde, Landkreis Osnabrück, Niedersachsen, Germany (not Gehrde, Preußen, Hannover, Germany)

P.S. Egbert: I was only going on how the records were filed. It looks like some wars changed things up a bit. https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Ha ... _Genealogy

Re: Seeking parentage of Dirk Wesseling of 18th century Enschede
Thanks for the clarification. Although I think the filing system of familysearch is based on a gros simplification of history. For example, untill 1803 Osnabrücker Land was a souverin area for ages.Steve Barnhoorn schreef: ↑20 mar 2022, 22:53I was only going on how the records were filed. But since there is only one town in Germany called Gehrde, it must be the one in Osnabrücker Land.
And Evert Wesling and Anna Statmann might be the wright parents. Jurgen Wesseling had a daugther and son:
Klaasje Antje and Harmen Evert
Not evidence, but very likely.

A couple of other things.
First, since we're going on naming patterns, among the children Jan Hoenderdos and Catharina Wesseling had were:

It's possible Harmen/Herman's baptism wasn't recorded? Or it was recorded elsewhere? Also, couldn't find Harmen/Herman in the Lidmatenboek of Haarlem.
